Helpful Information About the Workshop

Everything is provided.

That includes sewing machines, irons, cutting tools, marking tools, etc. Unless we specifically tell you bring something (for example – bring your projects and consumables for an Open Sew), everything will be all set for you to use in class. If you want to take something home to keep the inspiration going, supplies are also available for purchase.

It’s ok if you to have questions and if you are a novice.

Haven’t ever held a needle? Don’t know how to measure? Been forever since you sat at a sewing machine? No problem. Just follow the guidelines for experience level listed for each class, and you will be taught all you need to know.

This space is about creating something tangible and trying something new.

This space is not about perfection, competition, or rules, and it is absolutely NOT about AI. We use tools that our great-grandparents used as well as new ones. We give credit to people who have learned before us, and who share their knowledge and skills.

In this space, we create things for a variety of reasons.

Sometimes we create items for comfort or for beauty. Sometimes we create things to protest. Sometimes we create things for necessity or to upcycle. Sometimes we create things to keep our hands busy and to quiet our minds. All reasons are good and have their place.

Can you bring your own machine?

You can! But please let me know ahead of time so that I make sure there is space ready.

Is there parking?

Yes! And plenty of it! Sabathani Community Center has a large (200+ spots) parking lot.

Do I offer refunds for classes?

If I can fill the spot for that class, I am happy to offer a refund. Otherwise, classes are non-refundable.

Kids are welcome as paying participants when class is age-appropriate.

Everyone who comes to the class must be a paying participant, and children under 18 cannot attend without an adult. Some of the classes are more appropriate for kids than others. Please follow the age guidelines.
